Children's and Young People's Activities over the Summer

by Linda Philo

Poster for Children's Holiday Activities

We are pleased to say that we have organised an exciting range of activities for children in the 5 to 13 age range during the Summer Holidays.

We have received funding from Derbyshire County Council, through the Department for Education’s, Holiday, Activity and Food (HAF) Fund.

This means we can offer all parents the opportunity to book the activities at significantly subsidised prices. (The activities are free for pupils in receipt of a pupil premium.) Bookings open Monday 12th July, for all children.

We do hope that your children will be able to join these activities for lots of summer fun.

With best wishes

Four weeks of Holiday Clubs

We are delighted to announce that Premier Education will be running a holiday club at South Wingfield Primary School and Crich Junior School for 4 weeks during the summer holidays.

Due to the funding we have been able to access through the Government’s ‘Holiday Activities and Food Fund’, the cost will be just £5.00 PER DAY and FREE for children entitled to pupil premium.

Furthermore, lunch will be provided for each child attending every day!

The Holiday club will run from 9:00 am – 3.00 pm each day on the below dates at each venue;

South Wingfield Primary

Monday 26th – Friday 30th July

Monday 2nd – Friday 6th August

Crich Junior School

Monday 9th – Friday 13th August

Monday 16th – Friday 20 th August

The Clubs will be open to children aged 5 – 11.

Children should bring a water container and some snacks for the day; they will not need to bring a packed lunch as this is provided.

At the holiday club, children will take part in a wide range of activities including sports such as football, basketball, cricket, dodgeball and many others. There will also be an opportunity to take part in performing arts sessions as well as arts and crafts each week.

We are still required to operate in bubbles and, for this reason, there will be two options each week.

Parents can book Monday – Wednesday or Thursday & Friday each week. Should you wish your child to attend all week you can book both options. There is no limit on the number of weeks or days you can book.

In order to book a place for your child please go to or click on the link below to go straight to the booking page for each venue.

Parents of pupil premium children please use code WJM/100 to book for free.

We will check with the school that any bookings made using this code are children who qualify for pupil premium funding. Any bookings made with this code for children who do not qualify will be cancelled. PLEASE ENSURE YOU PUT THE SCHOOL YOUR CHILD ATTENDS WHEN BOOKING AS WE NEED THIS FOR FUNDING PURPOSES.

We expect there to be huge demand for this due to the funding and places are offered on a first come first served basis.

We will be monitoring attendance, and any children regularly missing days that have been booked will have future bookings cancelled to free up the place for other children.

We have also been able to arrange transport for any children who may need support getting to the venues.

If you require help with transport please email

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact James Jennison, Area Manager, Premier Education.

Four Adventure Days at Lea Green

We are thrilled that we can offer four more wonderful adventure days at Lea Green for children aged 6 to 13 years old. These will be on the Fridays 30 July, 6, 13 and 20 August from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.

We are excited to say that there will be even more activities available for the children to enjoy than in April and June when we ran the Adventure Days before.

Due to the popularity of these days, we are having to limit children to one day each during the Summer.

The days cost £10 per day and lunch and snacks will be provided.

To book a place for your child or children please ring or email the staff at the Glebe Centre in Crich, who are managing the bookings this time.

Children should be taken direct to Lea Green. If you need help with transport, please email

Wonderful Woodlands and Forest Fun!

In addition to the activities we have provided before, we are very pleased to offer this opportunity for children. This is the description of the afternoons, from Claire Teeling from Grow Outside C.I.C.

Calling all children aged 5-12!

Come and join us to seek out the wonders of Fritchley’s Well Wood on Mondays throughout the summer holidays!

Seek out woodland treasures, learn to make games and toys using found materials and learn all about the natural wonders of the woodland.

We invite you to bring your imagination to help us weave stories, create woodland characters and make your own natural artwork.

You will be able to take your creations home with you, along with skills and ideas for new adventures that you can carry on at home throughout the holidays and share with your friends and your grown-ups!

With a ratio of six children per leader, (maximum group size 12 children) we are able to give every individual the attention and support they need to follow their own inspiration and tailor the session so that your child enjoys a completely unique experience that they will love!

Age range 5-12 years - parents are not required to attend.

Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear is necessary. There is likely to be mud! Please ensure your child wears old clothing that they can get dirty.

From 12:30 pm to 4:30pm on Mondays between 26 July and 20 August.

A lunch will be provided on the children’s arrival. Children can bring a drink of their own if they wish.

Contact or call on 07960 249816 for bookings or more information.

Due to small group sizes, places are limited. Due to the subsidy, there is no cost for these sessions or for the packed lunches.
