The service is completely free with the added bonus that you can read your books over 4 weeks rather than 3!
There is something for everyone:
Martin and John will be very happy to give you any advice you need and if you can't find the book you want they can get it for you, just ask about the reservation service.
To join Derbyshire County Council Libraries all you need to do is to provide proof of your address.
The mobile library has a lift for wheelchair users and people with mobility problems.
Derbyshire County Council also provide a free home delivery service to Derbyshire residents who are unable to visit a library either on a permanent or temporary basis.
If you apply for the service, they will visit you to talk about your needs, and find out what you like to read and listen to.
They can then choose books, audio books and other items for you. You can let them know if your reading or listening tastes change at any time.
You can choose novels (in standard, large or giant print, hardbacks or paperbacks), non-fiction and audiobooks and your items will be delivered every 4 weeks at a regular time, either by one of their home library assistants, or by one of their specially trained volunteers. At each visit you can ask them to bring specific books that you want to read, though there may be a waiting list for more popular titles.
They deliver to people in their own home, in care homes or in sheltered accommodation.
The service is completely free and there are no overdue charges.
